Preparing for Outlook 2003 migration - Personal Adress Book question

M

Melandre

In Outlook 2002, I still use Personal Adress Book (PAB) as
my default adress book (unlike most people who use their
Contacts list or Windows address Book - WAB). I am
wondering if PAB is still supported in Outlook 2003 and if
not, is there a way to convert a PAB file to a WAB file (I
am assuming WAB is still supported)?

Secondary question: I am not planning to uninstall Office
XP. I simply want to install Office 2003 on top of Office
XP. Should/Will Outlook 2003 recognize add-ins (such as
McAfee HAWK detection email and Ihatespam spam filtering)
during the conversion from Outlook 2002?

TIA. Melandre

The pab-addressbook is still supported but not recommended as it is only
there for backward compatibility. Wab-files are a part of Outlook Express
and can only be imported into Outlook. What is the reason for not using the
Contacts folder?

Only one version of Outlook can be installed on a system. The rest of Office
can run side by side. Check with (better yet; contact) the software
developer for Outlook 2003 compatibility. This way you are covered in case
things are going wrong. We did the same inventory when we went from Windows
98 to Windows 2000/XP. We even got promissed free support in case they
informed us wrong.
