Within my ppt2007 presentation I have links to spreadsheet files(I can use
either xcel or openoffice) In packaging my presentation for CD, however, I
noticed that ppt viewer cannot open spreadsheet files--I tried openoffice
but have not tried xcel yet. Is this a fundamental limitation of the viewer.
Any workarounds?

Thanks,

Vic

You'd need Excel or an Excel Viewer to open spreadsheet files.

You can try setting the action to run the Excel Viewer and open the
spreadsheet file. Not sure if the Excel Viewer is designed to run from CD or
not, though. You might have better luck converting the Excel file to a PDF.
I know Acrobat Reader can be set up to run from CD.

OK. So let's assume they have excel or open office. How do I get the viewer
to fire up the sheets? Or is this not possible. Does he user have to exit
the viewer and edit the sheets separately?

Thanks,
Vic

Unfortunately, it does not work.

It might work simply to create a hyperlink to yourfile.xls

It'd have to be in the same directory on the CD as your PPT/PPS file for
this
to work, and even then I'm not sure it would. Give it a try ...
