I find the master / layout system to be the most annoying feature of the new
version. If you use many masters, the master view gets very congested as
everytime a new master is created, it is attached to a copy of itself in
every layout choice. Most of the program has just been shifted around to make
location of familiar tools a treasure hunt. Charts and graphs have a new
look. Undecided if it's better or worse. To use the new style, you must have
the whole new office package.

Ah, now, see, I really like the new master/layout setup. I can see why it
would be annoying if you have lots of masters, but I'd tend to use lots of
layouts and fewer numbers of masters instead of the other way around. I
believe that the ability to create your own layouts and add your own
placeholders makes these extremely powerful.

Since you stated that it is "inefficient"... why release it that way?

Hello,

| I think it's probably got to do with the new text engine in PPT 2007.

You are correct. The OfficeArt text caching mechanism is "inefficient"
when
by-letter or by-word animation effects are used.

Using a sprite-less animation effect (such as Appear) or simply not using
by letter or by word animation settings are the recommended workarounds.

Thanks,
