Powerpoint / Word 2007 Copy and Paste Issues

So if I have Powerpoint open and there are tables in word that were inserted
as objects and I want to edit it, I can do just that ... however, if I try to
copy and paste, it will not work. I have to actually keep a microsoft word
07 window open as well and then it copies and pastes... Whats the deal with
that?? It doesnt happen with anything else besides a word object in PPT... I
cannot find anyone else with this issue... I can not reinstall anything as
its a company computer and my own IT department has no idea!
I have SP2 installed.
HELP?

Let me try to clarify...
To add a word table, I either drag and drop in but majority of the time I go
to Insert Object and then just Create From File and select the file I want.

When I say copy and paste, I mean within the Word (object) table.
So if I have 4 columns and I want to copy one column for example and paste
it, I can't! It is completely disabled!

I then have to go to my desktop, open up the actual word program and then I
do the copy and paste from the word table which is an object in powerpoint..

Makes no sense to me!

Hi I should of mentioned that it USED to work... I know you have to double
click to get it. I am extremely knowledgeable in Microsoft Applications.
This just stopped working all of a sudden. It makes no sense.

Also, it is not possible to copy and paste any table directly into powerpoint
for my purposes because I need the formatting and consistency options that
word has to offer so i have to insert as object and up until a few days ago,
i could no longer use the copy feature.

Absolutely nothing changed on my end.
I did however find out that we had a temp at work and my problems are on HER
WORK! From what I can tell after extensive diggin around, there is some XML
data in her documents that do not allow me to copy?

I don't even know how that occurs, is it intentional, by accident? I would
like to know, and its not a global fix, I have to go into every single word
object (hundreds) and got o PREPARE, Inspect Document and then remove XML
data.... WHAT IS THIS?????
