copy/paste from word to powerpoint

I've saved some 'print screen' images in a word document and am now
attempting to copy/paste the images to Powerpoint. When I right click my
image, I select copy. I move to the Powerpoint doc, the paste feature is
disabled.

Have tried using the edit menu in both programs, same result. Also have
tried cut/paste, both with right click and edit menu.

what am I missing?

Is PowerPoint open already before you copy/cut in Word? (I've seen some
utilities and add-ins that seem to make paste unavailable if I stop to open
PPT after copying.)

In addition to what Echo said, paste is only available when in edit view and
when a slide is selected. If you have a picture on the clipboard, you can
only paste it in the context of a slide.
