PPT 2008 (for Mac) Viewing on PPT (for Win) - copy/paste issue

Does anyone know if the copy/paste (or drag/drop) issue has been fixed?

In the past, if you copied and pasted or dragged and dropped an image into
powerpoint when creating it on a mac and then later tried to view it on a pc
the images would be missing. The workaround was to never copy/paste, but to
use file --> insert instead.

Does anyone know if this issue still exists? It seems like all of my images
are showing up in windows, but I only have PPT 2007 to test it on. Not sure
if they would still show up in earlier Win versions.

Yes, I understandy why it happens. And it DOES seem to be showing my images
in PPT 2007 on WIN, BUT my question is does anyone know if the images will
still appear if opened in WIN 2003....never can tell what software is on the
presenter's machine.

So, if you drag and drop a file in PPT 2008 (MAC), will the images appear in
PPT 2003 (WIN)??

Ok, I found a machine that actually had office 2003 still on it, and the
images all appeared! Thank you for your help!

As someone that battled with an organization that was half Mac/half PC for
ten years... I know the pain of opening a file that originated on the Mac and
seeing Quicktime logos instead of the images I needed!

While it may "work" now to just drag and drop or copy and paste an image, I
don't think I would trust it. I have found, even when working in
2007(PC)/2008(Mac) that there are still glitches platform to platform and if
it works okay this time, it may not next time.

Best practice (for me) is to ALWAYS save a file in an image format and then
use Insert -> Picture, no matter the platform or version. It removes all
doubt that the image will reliably appear and I have the confidence that my
end user will be able to view the presentation no matter the platform/version.

Just my two cents!

Thank you Christine, yes I will use that approach moving forward! It's too
glitchy to trust it otherwise. Now, I just have to fix the links in the
first half of the presentation that I dragged in. I think will download
FixLinks in order to convert any linked images to embedded ones.

Thanks for all the feedback!
