Powerpoint should let me put in a song and it should play.

How can I put a song on powerpoint slide show and it will play through the
whole slide show without restarting?

This is a question, not suggestion.
After inserting the music from Insert > Movie and Sound > Sound From File,
Click Slide Show > Custom Animation.
Right click on the play effect, select Effect Options.
On the Effects tab, select Stop Playing after X slides. Put 999 in the box
so that it plays throughout the slides.
