Has anyone tried to distribute a powerpoint presentation via the
package to CD facility in PowerPoint XP and had the receiving end say
they cannot open the presentation - and discover it is an issue with
the operating system on the pc - in my clients case the operating
system is NT ... anyone had similar problem - or better still a
solution?

Any help most appreciated.

regards

Jeff

Yes, the PowerPoint 2003 Viewer will not run in Windows 98 or NT. That is by
design. You will need to use the PowerPoint 97 Viewer, but it doesn't support
the features that are new in PowerPoint 2003. If your client is using Windows
NT, then they do not have PowerPoint 2003. You may need to use the version of
PowerPoint that they are using to ensure compatibility.

Are you including the 2003 Viewer? It may not install under NT.

Thanks for info Sonia

Do you know if it is true (friend told me) that any kind of autorun
facility will not work under NT?

I am kinda lost for a solution for the client other than to say NT is
a no go!!

My problem is that it's a training/reference CD built in PowerPoint
and will be sent to various countries to beta test - my fear is that a
number of people will run NT - aaarrrrghhh!!

Any suggestions - I cannot use any other version apart from 2003
because the whole cd relies on the effects etc to make it slick!

Why is nothing ever straightforward <groan>

thanks for ALL comments

jeff :)

I have no experience with NT, but a more likely story is probably that they have
turned off autorun and don't know how to turn it back on. If you search on
"autorun Windows NT" (without the quotes) you will find lots of information
including how to enable or disable automatically running CDs at

If you mean stuff that gets launched from an AutoRun.INF file, then no, it's
not true. But the user might have disabled autorun from CD, just as they can
do in Win95 and on ...
