Powerpoint keeps exiting slide show by itself

Powerpoint 2003...whenever I view a slideshow, in the middle of the show
sometimes it exits the slide show and goes back to slide sorter and will have
a pop-up that says "Resume slideshow"...as if someone is pressing Alt-TAB...I
have only seen one article about this on-line and the first thing it points
to is a flaky keyboard and/or mouse....we have replaced the keyboard and
mouse on several occasions but it is still happening. Can anyone please help
with this? It's pretty important since this is in a room where some
executives make presentations and it is rather embarrassing when this happens.

This is standard behavior whenevr some other program grabs the focus (even
if just for a moment). So I would look at what programs are running on this
computer paying special attention to those that have periodic check
functions. One major catagory might be your virus scanner. If this was my
computer/setup, I would disconnect the computer from all networks, close all
but the very essentail windows programs, and see if the behavior stops. If
it does, then you know it is one of the processes that you closed.
