Powerpoint 2003 Crashes

Sorry to repeat myself but I can't see my message that I posted a couple
of
hours ago. This is my problem:
When Powerpoint opens I get the following message: "Microsoft Office
PowerPoint has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for
the inconvenience." It then closes after I've reported to Microsoft,
reopens
and crashes again ad infitum. What's the reason and how do I fix?

Make sure that you have all the updates installed.

Please tell us your PowerPoint and Windows

whether your dog has fleas, or
anything else relevant.

Hi,

I'll keep looking. I cant get onto Microsoft Knowledge base articles at all
tonight. Or much else for that matter. Might be the bad storms we had
earlier.

I too have searched Microsoft Knowledge base articles but
can't come up with the answer. Trouble is I haven't used PowerPoint at all
until I received a ppt file from a friend and it was when I tried to open it
that I found that PowerPoint crashed every time I opened it. I previously
had Office 2000 and upgraded to 2003 about 6 months ago. I have Windows
updates set to automatic so I never miss an update. Hope you can help.

Now that I still can't resolve te problem I decided to use the email option
of contacting Microsoft Support. Now I get a message "The product ID number
you entered is not valid". I have installed legally from a CD I purchased
myself. So I really need the help of this forum. I have done everything I
can think of, including reinstalling the whole of Office.
