populating email addy on "To" line

N

Novice

I posted this elsewhere & can't find the thread, so I apologize in advance
for the 2nd post.

We recently switched from Outlook Express to Outlook 2007. I had my old OE
account set up so that when I started typing an email addy in the "TO" line
of a new email, suggestions would automatically be presented for the full
addy. With this new account, I have to click on the "TO", then start typing
the addresses to see the available options. Can the Outlook be set up the
same as my OE so that I can just start typing addresses in the "TO" line &
the email addresses will automatically appear? (BTW, my address book was
transferred).

No, Outlook doesn't have a type-ahead feature like OE. However, Outlook does
have a caching feature which is built from addresses you have used before.
It will suggest names from this cache when you start typing in the address
fields.

You can also type (partially) a name/address in the address field and
Outlook will try to resolve it automatically or when you press CTRL+K
(CTRL+M in some localized versions of Outlook). It will prompt you for the
correct name when multiple results have been found.
