Popcorn release 1.56 (10-November-2003)
New features:

All Popcorn window fonts and colors can now be customized
independently for the Inbox view, the Mail view, the Mail Editor, All
Profiles and Transaction log windows. To enable custom fonts and
colors, either uncheck the "Window" -> "Use System Fonts and Colors"
menu item, or set the "UseSystemFonts" variable in the Popcorn.ini
file to FALSE (default value is TRUE). Using the five variables
described below, you can specify font, font size, text and background
colors for all the views/windows.

The basic format for each variable is as follows:
Variable="Font Name",FontHeight,TextColorBGR,BgColorBGR

"Font Name" - Font name (not the font file name)
FontHeight - Font height/size
TextColorBGR - Text color in hex B(lue)G(reen)R(ed) format (00BBGGRR)
BgColorBGR - Background color in hex BGR format (00BBGGRR)

The "InboxFont" variable is used to specify which font and colors to
use for the Inbox view. Default="MS Sans Serif",8,00000000,00ffffff
The "MailViewFont" variable is used to specify which font and colors
to use for the Mail view. Default="Courier",10,00000000,00ffffff
The "MailEditorFont" variable is used to specify which font and colors
to use for the Mail Editor window.
Default="Courier",10,00000000,00ffffff
The "AllProfilesFont" variable is used to specify which font and
colors to use for the All Profiles window. Default="MS Sans
Serif",8,00000000,00ffffff
The "LogFont" variable is used to specify which font and colors to use
for the Transaction Log window. Default="Courier",10,00000000,00ffffff
You can now specify what color Popcorn uses to hightlight items in the
Inbox view and the All Profiles window using the "HotItemColor"
variable in the Popcorn.ini file. The variable format is as
follows=Red,Green,Blue (Default value is=225,0,0).
Added "Open Mail Out folder" button to the toolbar and main window
File menu.
Setting the "RecentToNum" variable in the Popcorn.ini file to "0"
(zero) will disable saving/restoring recent to entries in the mail
editor, and it will also empty the recent to list stored in the ini
file.
Bug-fixes:

Fixed a minor bug that would sometimes cause the main window title to
not be updated when swithing between profiles.
Fixed a bug that in very rare instances would crash Popcorn when
downloading and/or displaying an e-mail with a malformed MIME header.
Fixed a minor bug in the All Profiles dialog that caused it to check
for new mail or download headers when double clicking on the check
boxes in the accounts/profiles list view.
Clicking on the reply/forward/redirect buttons while downloading a
message when no message(s) had been previously downloaded (the mail
view is empty) caused Popcorn to crash.
Other changes:

Popcorn now uses Windows system cursors for hyperlinks and pane
sizing.

Also note that as of 1.55, the liteware version of Popcorn includes a
good help file.

Also note that this is considered "crippleware" in this group
(some functions not available in free/lite version), and not
freeware.

In my opinion, Popcorn is Liteware. The only difference between the
free version and the commercial version is that the free version
supports only one email account. But the definitions are sufficiently
vague and overlapping to allow your interpretation as well.

Quoting from http://www.pricelessware.org/2003/info2003PL.htm

Crippleware: free version of a commercial program. More limited in
features and functionality than the commercial product. Crippleware
has severe limitations. Functionality that is important to the average
user has been disabled.

Liteware: free version of a commercial program. A useful program that
is more limited in features and functionality than the commercial
product. Liteware is not time-limited
