Please help, when was the RPC_E_DISCONNECTED issue solved?

Hi all

The following makes me very confused and I hope that you can help me
sort things out. Basically we have a system that probably is suffering
of the error described in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;293631 (DCOM
Application Fails with RPC_E_DISCONNECTED). According to the article
the error should have been solved in SP3. Everything is ok so far.

But then I found the following article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;827786
(RPC_E_DISCONNECTED Is Returned When You Make a DCOM Method Call). To
me it looks exactly like the same problem as described in 293631
(which should be solved in SP3). I the artice it says that 827786
should be solved in SP4. However if i look in the list of fixed issues
in SP4, 827786 is not included!

If I look at the list of post SP4 fixes, the following is listed
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;817082
(Availability of Windows 2000 Post-Service Pack 3 COM+ Hotfix Rollup
Package 26). The tells me this hotfix is related to SP3, but what is
it doing on a post SP4 list?
However in 817082 it says that the hotfix solves the
RPC_E_DISCONNECTED issue (which should have been solved already in
SP3).

So please help me! When was the RPC_E_DISCONNECTED issue solved?
In SP3?
In SP4?
In the Windows 2000 Post-Service Pack 3 COM+ Hotfix Rollup Package 26?
Or is it still open?

Best Regards
Patrik Johansson
