Susan Bugher

October 15 - October 31, 2005 - Program nominations, seconds and program
discussion.

We have entered the program nomination period. *Late* additions to the
nominations list are permitted if the *group* feels a valuable program
has been overlooked.

Please review the programs shown on the Nominations page and the
preliminary PL2006 pages. If you feel there has been a significant
omission (missing subcategory etc.) post your comments for discussion.
If you have a program to suggest post information about it for discussion.

Late program additions need support from the group before being listed
for nomination. If others agree that the a program is their *preferred*
choice for that subcategory submit a program description in this thread:

nominate a freeware Geographical Information System/ Mapdrawing
programm, called MapMaker. Any hint appreciated.

Hint 1. Re-read the information above.

Program descriptions are a necessary first step toward nomination. You
must obtain support from other newsgroup participants BEFORE submitting
a *late* program description. Discussion of that app should be posted in
the BUSINESS-HOME discussion thread.

Hint 2: the link below is featured rather prominently on the Nominations
page - it's labeled "Pricelessware Review Procedures". When you don't
know how things are done RTFM. . . ;)
You submit a program here in the newsgroup by following the procedure here
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2006/2006PL-Procedures.php

Thanks Miskairal. :) :) :) from that web page (newly revised/simplified):

<q>
Notes on preparing program descriptions.

See this web page first::
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_ProgramIndex.php

If there is a link to an existing short description for the program
VERIFY that information..

If the short description has a desc. link it will take you to a long
description is on this web page:
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_programs.php This description may
be outdated. The most recent information I have is shown in the short
description.

If there is a existing long description for the program COPY it, VERIFY
it and REVISE it as necessary. The goal here is to revise the things
that have changed. Update the descriptive text if the author has, update
ware descriptions as necessary (note: donation requests may not be on
the same page as the author's description of the app), versions, links
etc. Please tell me WHAT you revised - a word by word comparison takes a
long, long time.

If the above web pages do not have information about the program create
a new long description. Include the items of information shown in long
descriptions of other programs.

See this web page for examples of the formatting of ware descriptions
and OS descriptions::
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2006/PL2006ProgramIndex.php Sort the
table on the ware description or OS columns to group similar descriptions.

Check your description to ensure it contains all necessary items of
information.
</q>

Then check it again. . . ;)

EssentialPIM free version. I have been using this PIM (the portable
one) for a while now it has served me well. While there is a PRO paid
version, the freeware one has quite a punch with many features. My vote
for essentialPIM for Organizers/PIM
