I would like to nominate:

Program: nnCron LITE
--------
Category: Reminders: Automation (?)
---------
Ware Type: Freeware
----------
Home Page: http://www.nncron.ru/#nncronlt
----------
Author: nnSoft ([email protected])
-------

Description:
------------

nnCron LITE is a small, but full-featured scheduler that can start
applications and open documents at specified time or with specified
frequency. nnCron LITE is a perfect freeware Windows clone of a well-
known UNIX scheduler Cron (including all the useful Anacron features).

Here are the most important features of nnCron LITE:

- It can be started as a system service or as a regular standalone
application
- It understands cron table format (Unix) and is managed with easy-to-
edit text crontab files that are fully compatible with Unix crontabs
- It can handle and restart so called missed tasks
- It can set and use environment variables
- It can run applications authorized as currently logged user
(WinNT/2000/XP)
- It can be extended with plugins written in Forth language
- It can be easy tuned up to answer your current needs
- It is not resource demanding, and it can run even on very old PCs
without any noticeable performance degradation. (We have never seen
nnCron LITE service to allocate more than 150k of operative memory.)

Note #1:
--------
I still strongly recommend to add another one cathegory to PW: smth like
'System Utilities: Schedulers', because I'm not sure nnCron LITE fits
into 'Reminders: Automation' beeing a plain scheduler (not a reminder).

Note #2:
--------
I'm not the author of nnCron LITE, but I'm a member of this program
'support team'. You may want to keep this in mind when deciding - do you
want to vote for nnCron LITE or not.

Thanks.

Seconded

Nominations are now open for the the 2004 Pricelessware list.

Second the following and added description, alternate d/l site, and
screenshot.

Program: Programmer's File Editor (PFE) v1.01
Ware Type: Orphanware - Freeware
OS: 32-Bit Edition designed for Windows 95,98,NT 3.51 and 4.0 using
Intel-compatible processors and Windows 2000 using Intel-compatible
processors
Language: English
Category: Editor - Programmer
Author: Alan Phillips
e-mail: from authors site "regrettably time will not permit replying to
PFE-related e-mail."

Description:
Programmer's File Editor (PFE) is a large-capacity text file editor,
oriented towards those who use Windows as their program development
environment, and so incorporates many features that make it a convenient
work management system.

Although it's primarily oriented to program development, it makes a very
powerful general editor for any purpose at all.

PFE's capacity is essentially limited only by the total amount of memory
available on your system. There are no editor-imposed limits on the
number of files that you can edit simultaneously, nor on the number of
edit windows that you may have open. There is no limit on the size of
file that can be handled, and none on the number of lines that a file may
contain.

PFE adheres strictly to the Windows MDI conventions. You can invoke most
commands and facilities from menus; you can move around with a mouse or
with the standard keyboard shortcuts; you can cut and paste from the
clipboard, and so on.

The final release of PFE is version 1.01, which is available in versions
for Windows 9x, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows 3.1x. It's available
from a number of major archive sites.

Comment:
Works well on XP Home too.

it's cute indeed, many thanks bjorn.
just one remark: it installed in the root dir. i tried to move it in my
'\programmi\' dir (program files, italian), correcting the registry entries,
but cutepdf just looped. seems some path has been hardcoded. after putting
it in the root again, it works.
should you work further on it, please let it get installed in the \program
files.

Ringraziarlo... :)

I've never thought about it before, but you're right. It doesn't bother me,
but I understand that it could be annoying for some.

Well, I'm not the author, but I'll try to pass it along to them.

I can't believe that in the 4 years I've never nominated a program,
really. I've added my vote to a few but never nominated. Everyone
always seemed to do so with the programs I felt worthy of being
Pricelessware.

However, would like to definitely nominate the one I found yesterday,
DIR2HTML. I have had tutorials and help files all over both my drives
and yet never had a reliable, easy way to index them until yesterday
when I found this app.

But I'm not sure re protocol. Is there a page somewhere that outlines
how to go about writing up the nomination post?

Sorry if I've never learned this as, as mentioned, I'd never been in
this position before.

Thanks!

Hi Fitwell,

Nominating is easy. . . to make it official:

Post saying I nominate DIR2HTML. Include the ware type. The category is
Web Design.

Post that info in the [PL] 2004 New Nominations thread.

I also need a full description for the program (similar to PL2003
programs descriptions). You can include it with the nomination or post
it later in the [PL] 2004 Program Descriptions thread.

This thread has more info: [PL] 2004 Discussion - Program Descriptions

eMule is already on the Nominations list - is this a *different* program
or a different version of the same program? The URL is somewhat
different . . . Please review the existing eMule nomination and advise.
Thanks.

This is a slighty different GUI/Options and handling then what eMule
does, also I find more efficient and more dedicated while downloading.

Others may feel this way also, if they would care to reply.
