Pictures don't load on web pages

I have windows xp home edition, and IE 6.0 as well, and
for some reason some pictures on most web pages don't
load correctly, and instead an "x" is displayed. I don't
know whether this can somehow be changed under settings
or something so that the pictures can be loaded properly
or if something is wrong with my computer or me! anyways,
I appreciate the help,
Casey

Don't waste your time. None of this worked for me but I
see these same recommendations over and over anyway. If
anyone comes up with a real solution other than this
runaround please post it.

BTW - you seem to have a lot of names - each time you post,
you use a different handle - any particular reason.?

These documents *do* explain the various causes of 'red x' syndrome.
In my own case, I tracked down the reason being my ZA firewall in
which I have 'Private Headers' blocked (aka HTTP Referral data).

Truth is it can be caused by a number of issues as the documents
explain, particularly the MS one I quoted.
