"pictures could not be found" in forwarded email

What *do* you see when you go to Tools, Options, Security?
Make sure you start out from the main Windows Mail screen, not some
subsidiary screen like the message compose window.

Gary: Sorry to get in on this so late, but I just had the "one or more of
the pictures could not be found" message when trying to forward some pics. I
tried the unchecking of the two boxes you mentioned, but that changed
nothing. Any other ideas? BTW, it's not open somewhere else. Thanks.

Are you forwarding a picture that already existed in the original message,
or did you insert a new picture? If the latter, make sure that picture is
closed (not open in Photo Gallery or somewhere else). If the former,
I don't know what could cause that.

I have Vista. When I click Tools, Security--I do not have anything that says
allow pictures or anything to uncheck. It's not there? Can you help?

Where did you click Tools? If it's not in the main window of Windows
Mail, it's not likely to lead you to the right place.

I clicked tools on the mail site. I can click tools -options-security- that's
when the other runs out. There is no place to click allow pictures or the
other . I hate Vista. Is there anything else to try?

I'm having trouble following you.
What do you mean by "mail site"?
What do you mean by "the other runs out"?

Mail site is the main mail page. Earlier help listed to click
Tools, options, security, uncheck "Do not allow attachments" and uncheck "Block
images". On Vista I can click Tools, options, security. The list to uncheck
the other is not there. I can not uncheck these two since I can not locate
them. Nothing on that page shows these two items. Help, please.

It looks like you're not starting the right program before clicking Tools.
Right click on the icon for starting it, then Properties. If the target is
not C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe, it's the wrong
program. Click on Start or the orb, then Run, then type that name,
then click OK, to make sure you are starting the right program.

I had the exact same issue and tried what many in here have suggested, but
nothing worked. What did work for me, however, was to go to options, send
and then uncheck "reply to message using format in which they were sent."
Hope this helps others new to headaches of Vista (like me).

Fairly frequently, when I forward an email that contains an image, I get
this warning:

"One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found. When you
send this message the pictures will not be included. Are you sure you want
to send this message?"

Any idea why this is happening? Thanks.

Gary, I wound up here because I linked over from the same error message
everyone was talking about on this thread about file not being found, but
then it sends ok....I've had the same problem in XP and now having it in
Vista, not just with pictures I wish to embed in an email, but background
music using 'format' then 'background' then 'sound' then 'browse' and then
selecting an audio file. When I send it anyway, some of my friends can hear
the audio but some can't. I've never been able to figure it out. Like
others who posted here, my Security tab on Vista does not have the choices
you mention "unchecking".

Are you going to <Tools, Options, Security> in Windows Mail?
If so, what *do* you see there?

I know next to nothing about embedded music, so I can't help you
with that.

Make sure you reach the Security tab by starting Windows Mail, then
clicking Tools in its main window, then Options, then Security.

Also, make sure any other programs that access the files you are trying
to attach are closed before you attach then, since Windows Mail often
has problems attaching open files.

Check your security settings:
Tools, Options, Security, uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."
and uncheck "Block images..."

Gary, I checked the security settings and nothing is checked. The pictutes are just in the email I am trying to send. They are not part of another program. Dick H.

I checked tools, options, security and nothing is checked. The only program
the pictures are on is the email. I still can't forward them.
