Personal pics showing up as a desktop choice..why?

I purchased a new computer and one of the first things I did was transfer
pictures from my digital camera to the "my pictures" folder. Today, I
decided to go to control panel>appearance and themes>change desktop
background. I noticed that some/possibly all my pictures appear as an option
along with the standard backgrounds (i.e. purple flower, red moon desert,
etc.). I don't want the pictures to be an option at all.
In detail, how do I keep this from happening in the future AND how do I
remove the current pictures from being an option without deleting them from
my hardrive?
Thank you in advance. Rochelle.

I think this might do it...R click on Desktop and choose Properties.. Then
choose "desktop"..Then click on the "browse" button.. At the bottom , there
is a box where you can either "background files" of "All picture files"..
Make sure youve chosen the first option...

Hello Litecar2. I did exactly what you said and the following happened: After
I clicked on "browse" the "my pictures" window appeared with all my current
pictures...in addition, "background files" was the default already. I
clicked "ok" the first time and clicked "cancel" the second
time....unfortunately, my personal pictures still show up as a desktop
background...which is what I dont want.
Please advice. Thank you. Rochelle.

Put the pictures in a different folder from My Pictures. Note that
images in any sub folders of My Pictures will also show.
