Persistent Reboot!!!!

Windows Defender picked up spyware with a serious threat, virtumonde.G. I
have told it to remove several times and it states it was successful.
However, it continually wants me to reboot the computer and when I do, it
picks up this same spyware and tells me to reboot again. Any suggestions?

Hello Sherie,

Get HijackThis.exe from
http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

Save it to C:\hjt (new folder) then Open it and select Scan and Save Log.

Note where you saved the log then send it to him as an attachment.

Put Hijack in the subject so he'll know it's not spam.

Alternatively you can post it on the Dell Forum at:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?
board.id=si_hijack

(if it wraps you can go to:

http://tinyurl.com/ckuzq instead.)

Put Ron in the subject so he will see it. You do not need
to have a Dell to post but you will need to register.

This is my first time using something like this. I hope I sent the
information to the right place. I ran the program and then went back to the
Tom Coyote website, contacts, and copied and pasted the log in the message
area and submitted. Am I right?

I was having the same problem, drove me nuts!! I tried everything! Then I
found my way to this page

http://www.f-secure.com/sw-desc/virtumonde.shtml

downloaded the program, scanned it for virus's, extracted the files ran the
program and ALL GONE! re ran my windows defender (which was what was saying I
had the infection) no infections found, no pop ups, no constant re-boot, good
luck!

Thanks for the information. I ended up at http://forums.tomcoyote.org they
helped me out and got the mess cleaned up. The reboot problem was very
frusterating, I've got teenagers that use the computer too! I wrote down
your page for future reference. Thanks again!
