Avenue Media SpyWare Not Removing!

Joe

Hi,

This one Spyware program is driving me nuts! Everytime the
Microsoft anti-spyware beta version I s/w catches it,
minutes later my SpyHunter s/w from Enigma picks it up
again (And the beta anti-spyware is not). Both of the s/w
tools consider this a severe threat. Is there any way
to "Totally" rid myself of this spyware? Please advise?

Hi Joe,
Try this, and please share the results:
Boot into Safe Mode (F8) at startup;
Empty your temporary files AND your Temporary Internet Files C:\Documents
and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files folder ;
Run the scan while in safe mode;
If you are running SP2, open IE--->Tools--->Manage Add-ons, and uncheck any
BHO's that you don't recognize.

Hi Ron,

That worked! I just ran the MS Anto-Spyware and therre no
infected files found. I double-checked using SpyHunter and
it didn't find it either. Now, if I can just figure out
why IE Explorer is using 64MB of memory and running slow
since I installed MS Anti-Spyware???

Thanks!
Joe...

I have spent a ton of time with this issue. It appears to be almost impossible to remove all of the attendant files. This is a program that accompanies "free" software. It self-installs on contact with the program. I have run all of the major free and for-pay adware, spyware, malware, blahblahware programs and it reinstalls at startup every time. I have only successfully removed it with a system restore using the system disk. You cannot use restore from windows internal. The program has that blocked. Safe mode does not help at all. Get your system restore disk or a copy of your operating system and reformat.
