Permanently delete in AutoArchive settings

I have a user whose AutoArchive settings on her inbox were setup to
permanently delete items that were more than 1 day old.
Is there anyway to recover items deleted? I have checked in deleted items,
and tried to recover deleted items but they are not there.

So what did the user think "permanently" meant? That they wouldn't be
permanently deleted? If it is permanent then it's permanent. If the
e-mail were retrievable than it wasn't a *permanent* deletion, was it?

Since permanently deletion is not the default, your user deliberately
chose that option. Some stupidities have no recovery. Nuclear bombs
also don't come with an undo function.
