After installing XP Home I do not have an option to turn
off Monitor.

I tried the following:
Start
Control Panel
Performance & Maintenance
Power Options

I selected Home/Office Desk and I have an option to Turn
off Hard Disk but not to turn off Monitor.

Right click Start button and select Properties, Start Menu and check box
before Start Menu. Does that change what you have?

It worked when I ran Windows 98 SE so I thought it would
work with XP.
