pdf files won't download

I'm running windows xp with IE 6.02 and when I try to download pdf files, the
system stops responding and the files don't appear. I have acrobat 7.0. I
have the windows and norton firewall security firewall running, which has not
been a problem in the past. (the norton firewall is also blocking the
sending and receiving of my email). thanks for any help.

Make sure your Acrobat Reader is up-to-date. The latest is 7.0.3. In AR go
to Help...About to check your version. To update, go to Help...Check for
updates now. There was a problem with ver. 7.0 that may be causing this

If no joy, try disabling the Norton product and see if that helps.
