Someone in my family is considering buying a pc from www.pcspecialist.co.uk and i was wondering if anyone has used them before, searched the site and couldnt find any posts.

Prices seem quite reasonable and they say that they dont use crappy parts (we shall see), they seem to get good feedback on their site and on ebay. Really appreciate any help.

I've never heard of them before, but they actually seem about average price compared to any large retailer - it not a little more expensive

I priced up a PC at Dell, looked on E-Bay (I wouldnt buy from here though if I were you), and PC Specialist - and PCS came up the most expensive.

Have you thought about building your own? Its much more fun, saves money and a great learning experience. :D

For the system they want it is cheaper at PCS than Dell, this is the rough spec:
P4 Prescott 2.8Ghz 800fsb 1mb cache
1GB DDR400
ASUS mobo
160GB Sata 7200rpm 8mb cache
CDRW+ Nero, PowerDVD.
DVD
128mb 9800pro
Aluminium case
550W PSU
XP pro
17in CRT 1208x1024
keyboard, mouse, speakers, 2 extra fans and a 1 year warrenty
=£870ish

They dont want to build a pc, anyone know another place that they could get a similar spec pc for less without having to build it?

This ain't bad, just £525.00. It ain't perfect, but really not too bad at all for the money.

No monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers or software, but quite a respectable base unit for the price. Maybe worth considering.

Used PCS once before they were fine except the machine did develop a fault; but statistically someones going to get a prob and its usually me ! They did eventually get round to sorting it under their warranty.

After comparing loads of sites I eventually got the latest one from NSYSonline. I had heard of them before but never used them because they used to be trade only. They opened up their doors to the public earlier this year, so I got in there. I wont bore you but good quality, fast, great service and bloody good prices. So if you need a link try this as well:-

PCSPECIALIST feedback

I have recently acquired a PC from PCSpecialist. For months leading up to christmas I researched many companies both on and off line, in order that I would make an informed decision as to who would assemble my computer. In the end I plumped for PCSpecialist based on my knowledge at the time. My goals were to achieve a compact (limited space available); quiet computer; Intel core 2 duo processor etc. All seemed fine as my new computer arrived bang on time, however, the case is larger than that stated on PCSpecialist website and as a consequence does not fit into my current desking configuration. To rub salt into my wounds when I contacted the vendors I was assured that the case dimensions were as stated on their website.
The computer itself is quieter than my old one, however, I had a tv tuner card fitted which doesn't work. When I contacted the vendors about this the suggestion was to re-install, however, the card probably wouldn't work with the antennae supplied. I could have acceptesd this beforehand but with no previous explanation it makes the situation harder to swallow.
To sum up the computer is generally fine but I am disappointed, to say the least, with the after sales support.

Also not happy with pcspecialist

Ordered pc on monday and was told I would receive on Friday

Friday came and no pc so I phoned and was told it had not been sent but would go out that day to be delivered the next day (Saturday) I repeatedly asked are you sure it will be sent out that day and be delivered on Saturday ... was always told yes.

Was also told that they would phone me back to keep me informed

Did I get a call back later or did I recieve the pc on saturday ......... no I did not

I phoned them on Saturday and was told it had been sent but not for a saturday delivery

Apparently there was no supervisor or anyone there on Saturday who I could complain to

All in all a very bad service and would advise anyone thinking of purchasing from this company not to

The above are just a brief account of my problems but feel it is enough

That's a very fast turnaround for a PC build... are you sure you have this correct?

I'm also looking at a system from them primarily to use for photoshop. I'm nervous about the customer service as I keep reading so many conflicting reviews! However the spec v price is good so I'm awaiting a reply from them in regard to a few questions I have then I'll take the plunge! I'll keep this thread posted with my experience!

Any comments on this spec gratefully recieved:

Well i've had my pc just over a month now and just this very morning my pc has lost power on 5 separate occasions without warning, i can restart it again but it bombs out after another 20mins to 1.5 hrs, been running now just over an hour and a half without power loss again. Pc specialist do not seem to answer any emails you send but i have emailed them again today with this prob. I'm going to ring them too. I can only assume the PSU is failing, i'm not amused. Otherwise the PC is great, but i'm really disheartened now especially since i did not extend the collect and return to base option and it only ran out 3 days ago.I didn't realise it was only £5, god am i regreting that decision. I hope to get this resolved quickly. Fingers crossed.

Have used PCSpecialist in the past and can confirm that in 2009 they appear to have gone downhill. They are late on their delivery estimates and don't print any negative views on their website.
Use them if you are willing to wait 30 days to recieve your computer.

Have mates that have used them in the past and they have shipped and delivered in the time given, and they have always had good response if something has gone wrong....
