PC wants to save as bmp. instead of jpg. problem

In the past I have always saved images from the net into my documents. I
scrapbook and love to save a copy
of layouts for reference. For some odd reason now when I save them it wants
to save them in bmp format instead
of jpg. Even when I right click on the image it only shows bmp in the drop
down window. I must have changed something
without realizing it.
Any idea what I might have done?'
Thanks
Donna

To empty your Temporary Internet Files cache
1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
2. On the General tab, click Delete Files.

To turn off graphic compression in the AOL client
1. Go to Preferences in AOL.
2. Click Internet properties (or WWW in some versions).
3. Click Web Graphics.
4. Clear Never compress graphics (or Use compressed graphics in some versions).

Hi

Try clearing out the TIF folder. Open IE and go to Tools>Internet Options
and click on 'Delete files'.

Hi,

Clear your Temporary Internet Files, then try again.

Suggestion:

Go to IE/Internet Options/Delete Files. Also in Settings change the amount
to 40 MB. This will help in preventing the index files from becoming
overloaded.

NOTE: If you are using AOL:

This behavior may occur when AOL's graphic compression option is turned on.
When this option is on, the images are saved as the .art file type.

Connect to the Internet through AOL, and then visit the following AOL Web
site: www.aol.com. Click My AOL. On the Settings menu, click Preferences.

In the Preferences dialog box, click Internet Options (WWW).
In the Internet Options dialog box, click to clear the Always Compress
Graphics dialog box. Click to select the Never Compress Graphics dialog box.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

You must clean out the *IE* temp files.

It is Temporary Internet Files - not Temp - that needs to be cleared
out.

Go to Control Panel - Internet Options and middle of main page click
Delete Files. Then click Settings and *reduce* the space allowed, so
that the indexes will not become overloaded again. Say 50 MB, which
should be plenty. If you download a file bigger than that it will be
allowed to expand the folder
