.JPG file saves, as a .BMP file type

When I right click and select save of a .jpg picture file embedded in an
html page, instead of the file save type being .jpg it is now a .bmp file
type. I have no idea why this is, when it exactly changed from working
correctly or how to correct this problem.

I have applied John Knox's .jpg file association fixes and the problem still
persists. When I select the file type format for the picture save, only the
..BMP format is available.

Any help most welcome please.

Open IE, then go to Tools<Internet Options...>General tab. Click on :Delete
Files" button around middle of the dialog box.

Thanks for the link, I did as instructed in this article and cleared out the
downloaded program files folder and also ensured all the temp internet files
were deleted, sadly the problem still persists. I also ran regclean in case
of any registry anomalies arising from clearing out the downloaded folder
after the problem failed to be resolved, still no luck though. Also disabled
all add-ons in IE, again still the same. At a loss what to do next.

This happens if the indexes of the Temporary Internet Files get
overloaded. In Control Panel - Internet Options, in the temporary
Internet files section on the General page, click 'Delete files'. Then
I suggest click Settings and reduce the space allowed - 50 MB is
probably generous, and on big drives it tends to choose by default a
setting that is so high that this overload happens

Hello Alex,

I want to thank you for your input into my problem. Your information has now
resolved this problem. I have a program called ccleaner and used this to
delete .dat index files. I also then changed the cache size from 2230MB down
to a more reasonable value of 50MB, subsequently found the problem to have
been eradicated.

Many thanks again for your help.

Joe
