passwords windows recovery console

running xp home (w/all security updates)

recently was infected by the virus:trj/startpage.FH which hijacks homepage
to "about:blank"

used cwshredder, hijackthis, adaware6.0 which worked "tempoprarily"

after another reinfection, went to securiteam.com and followed a "step by
step removal" posted there. located the hidden dll and ran smack into a
roadblock due to windows recovery console not recognizing my "known"
administrator password. attempts to change/reset does not affect WRC as is
if the "administrator" in each place is not the same.

any way to bypass authentication in WRC or another way to rename/remove the
hidden dll

Thanks for the response,

I can still run windows, will this "fix" force a reinstall of the OS?

Hi,

Only if you choose to. The fix is to allow you access to the Recovery
Console, which is what I thought you wre asking.

Hi,

You may be a victim of sysprep if your system was preinstalled. Use the
floppy disk set to bypass this known issue.
