Per the February edition of PC Magazine; "For security reasons,
Microsoft has hobbled the Recovery Console by preventing access to
most folders on your hard drive. If you do not lift the restrictions
while windows is still working, the WRC may be useless when you need
it. While in Windows, open the local security settings editor (Start|
Run|secpol.msc), navagate to Security Settings|Local policies|Security
Options, then double-click on the Recovery Console: Allow floppy copy
and access to all drives and all folders item. Click Enabled and then
click OK."
I am running Windows XP Home SP2. There is no local polices
or a file called secpol.msc to be found by search or asked Help.
Questions:
1. Is this only available in Pro version?
2. I am the only operator and I am also system administrator does WRC
has the access it needs already in Home version or do I have to do or
add something?
3. Do you MSVPs recommend I install WRC as a boot up option?
email response not expected but to respond remove .uk at end
TIA
