I have a palm m515 , that worked perfectly with my last computer using win
98. I now have a computer using win xp. No matter what I try I cannot get it
to recognize my palm pilot. no matter what i do when i hit the hot-sync key I
get an error stating that it is an unknown device. Please Help !!!!

Make sure you have the latest version of Palm Desktop/Hotsync from Palm. You
can download it for free. Also make sure you have logged in with an account
that has admin rights when you install it & sync the first time....

downloaded the newest version already and have all admin rights. Any other
sugestions ?

Did you install the software *before* plugging in your Palm?
Make sure Hotsync is set to use USB (presuming that's your version)?
You may need to check with Palm support....may need to uninstall, trawl
through your registry to remove the Palm bits, reinstall anew.

And with the Palm 515 you can only use the Palm version 4.1.4, not version 5
which is reserved for the Tungsten and later Palms.
