pages won't open - last option info needed

I still can't get some pages to open no matter what - competition pages,
bank pages etc. Cache is empty, security is low, firewall is disabled, dlls
are verified - the bloody thing just doesn't work. (including windows update
which , as in all the pages, just goes to the site then hangs there). No
spyware on there - checked with adaware and spybot (both updated).
So I'm thinking of downloading Mozilla and using instead of IE6. Any onions
as to whether this would be a fix?

Did you removed the index or just clean the TIF?

It may not be a HOSTS file problem. Just in case.
Look also for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.
