i'm on adsl broadband off an ethernet card, have a
combined anti-virus/firewall program and use ie6.
recently, a problem developed where;
there is a delay of about 5-10 seconds after clicking on a
link before the browser indicates it's acknowledgement and
starts searching for the site.
80% of the time, ie appears to be downloading site, but
after about 20-30 seconds, comes up with the default "page
unable to be displayed" message.
if i click "refresh", the page will usually display.
eventually.
when page downloads do actually work, they are slow.
considering i'm on broadband, speed is more comparable to
to a 56k modem.
what i have tried to fix this problem;
restored all ie defaults.
turned off anti-virus/firewall.
turned off modem hardware and software, unplugged modem at
wall, rebooted pc, restored.
nothing has worked. since this problem devloped overnight,
i'm wondering if something i have done on my pc is at
fault or whether it's my isp's fault.
or something else.
can anyone suggest a remedy???
many thanks.
