Page Numbering

Guest

I am using Word 2003 and I would like to know how to suspend page numbering
until a specific page.

For instance, if I have a (7) page document, but I don't want page numbering
to begin until the 4th page ( with the 4th page beginning with page 1, so
that the last four pages are numbered 1-4 and the first three pages have no
page numbering),
How do I set this up?
Thank you in advance for any responses to this!

Assuming your page numbering is in the footer, you must unlink the footers
in Section 2 (or wherever it is that your second run of numbering starts)
from those in Section 1. You will then be able to remove the numbering in
Section 1. For more on these subjects see these articles:

http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NumberingFrontMatter.htm

The procedure outlined in the front matter article is the one to follow, the
only difference being that it is not necessary to unlink the headers/footers
to restart numbering or change the number format, but it is necessary in
order to omit numbering entirely.
