Page cannot be displayed

I have successfully used ie for years and ie6 since we
received the upgrade. Approximately 2 weeks ago, I
suddenly began receiving "The page cannot be displayed
message" when I am in a site, and go to a secure page ---
to make a payment or place an order. I use Windows Me and
have checked ... I do have 128-bit encryption. Can anyone
help me?

Ok here's my issue, got xp SP1 then went through all the updates to SP
2 and all the hotfixed now IER cannot get on the internet I get the
page cannot be displayed. However this is my work pc and I can access
all our local intranet sites. All fixes have not worked so far, none
of the MS suggestions non of the reg tweaks, or renaming host files,
nothing with ipconfig the scf /scannow did not work.I can use dns
correctly all address are correct and have not changed. I've gone
through the entire thread and nothing has worked. Why would using the
windows update site and doing what MS wants you to do break your I.E.?
I had this issue on another pc about 3 years ago after upgrading 98 to
98 se. I had to reformat and start from scratch
