Problem with Active X controls and with page cannot be displayed

I have IE6. When I try to run Windows update, I get the
following message
---------------------------
Microsoft Internet Explorer
---------------------------
Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX
controls on this page. As a result, the page may not
display correctly.
---------------------------
OK
My settings are on low and I have 128 bit encryption.
When I look at the specific security settings all my
active x controls are on enable.

I also have several web sites, including my hotmail
account that I cannot access and get the "the Page cannot
be displayed" page, no matter when I try. I have even
tried adding this to my trusted sites and it still doesn't
work. Help!!!

Just a thought...do you have one of the spyware removal programs
which, perhaps, disables ActiveX. I did and inadvertently had it
checked to de-activate ActiveX. Once that was removed ActiveX worked
properly.

I'll try that. My ISP told me to download adaware because
I was having problems and they thought that would fix it.

That didn't work. I sitll have the message that says "Your
current security settings prohibit running ActiveX
controls on this page. As a result, the page may not
display correctly." and then I get the Windows "You must
be an admnistrator" page - which I have verified I am. I'm
thinking if I can get the windows updates, I may be able
to access web sites again. Maybe it's two separate issues,
but I think they are somehow related.
