page cannot be displayed

On certain web sites i keep getting the "page cannot be displayed" message.
most web sites seem to work, but some won't load. i know it's not the sites
themselves because another computer on the same network is loading them
fine. Both machines are running XP Pro & IE 6. my internet connection is
cable coming into a linsys router which then feeds the netowrk. this
problem just seems to have started over the past week. can't think of
anything new installed or changer since then.
