outlook send/recieve returns error "Operation failed".

I am having problems with Outlook. Initially there were no folders, and I was
asked if I wanted to use default folders. I did but it didnt work. Instead I
exported mail folders, Calendar and Contacts from Other computer. This did
work as far as folders were concerned. However, now when I try to send and
recieve I get an erroro message "Operation failed". There is no other
information on the dialogue box, only an ok button. I have unistalled and
reinstalled many times.
