outlook send error

P

Philip Leduc

when I was at a client site at their network and opened outlook I noticed
that I get an error message,

Task 'philipleduc-e-mail - "Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0D) : 'Unable
to find the e-mail server. Please verify the server information in your
account properties.'" so far nothing strangly if it were not that I do not
have any e-mails visible in the out box. This error occurs only on my
default mailbox (there is 6 or 7 of them)

First idea do I have some kind of virus/trojan horse or whatever it is
called that is sending mail on my behalf so I ran ad-aware, spybot and
norton anitvirus but apart from a few cookies nothing going on. Is there any
other ways to detect what is going on (list of processes that could be
responsible or how do I fugure it out) Could I be on the wrong track and
jsut have to restore outlook?

Any ideas?

Are you using the SMTP server attached to your client's network or
attempting to use one on a different network? Most ISPs require you to use
the SMTP server they control and they often accomplish this by not allowing
port 25 (SMTP) access to any server but their own.

The problem is not that I cannot send e-mail , I am not a specialist in this
but I do know that I need to replace the smtp server of the network I am
logged in to.
Now, usually when you do not have any mails in your outbox, there is no
error message if you do not change the smtp servers of your accounts, so
that is exactly my question; how can I have an error when I have no e-mails
in my outbox?

This has nothing to do with whether there is anything to send. Polling will
check your incoming and outgoing abilities to receive/send, irrespective of
whether there is anything coming or going.

As I mentioned, I am not a specialist but I do not understand, if I have 6
or 7 e-mail accounts in there why do ony 1 or 2(yesterday when I visited
this client again) give me an error and not the other ones,
Also, perhaps I did not correctly specify the error I get (sending reported
error (0 x 800ccc87) .....) and why did I never got this error before in
the same situation, meaning strange network and NO visible e-mails in outbox
ready to send?

Still think there are two options (malicious code on my system though
ad-aware, spybot and symnatec do not seem to detect them) or just an error
with my outlook. If this would be malicious code are there any other tools
to detect this kind of problems.

Thank you for your advise,

philip

I am a new user in this forum and am looking for some HELP!

I cannot send ANY e-mail from Outlook. I am using Outlook 2003 which came with Office 2003, and I have a brand new Dell computer. I have NEVER been able to send mail out. I have check all of the settings and configuration and my outgoing mail server doesn't require authentication. I can use Mozilla Thunderbird and it will send anything I want to send. The problem is that I need to use Outlook because I need access to Distribution Lists, which I cannot seem to export to Thunderbird.

I get the following error every time I attempt to send someone:

"Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: Intero Danville
Sent: 8/9/2006 10:22 AM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(e-mail address removed)' on 8/9/2006 10:22 AM
554 <unknown[71.129.27.140]>: Client host rejected: Check your mail first"

Anyone have any advice on this?? HELP!
