outlook says 10 messages in inbox - only 6 are visible

I'm running Outlook 2003, and sometimes when I've downloaded email, the
indicator in the left-hand panel tells me that (e.g.) I've got 10 unread
messages in my Inbox. However, there are only 6 unread messages actually. Can
anyone suggest why this is please@

Check your view settings to make sure you don't have a filter applied.
