Outlook Launches Installer

I have Outlook 2000 and Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4.

When I launch Outlook the Windows installer also start up.
It works to cancel the Windows Installer but this is quite
annoying.

I tried running the Detect and Repair from Add and Remove
Programs but got this error:

Error 1919. Error configuring ODBC data source: MS Access
Database, ODBC error t: Component not found in the
registry. Verify that the file MS Access Database exists
and that you can access it.

After successfully launching Access, I clicked to ignore
this message and finished the repair. Unfortunately, the
problem still exists.

Ideas?

Is it possible that Outlook was originally installed under a different
account , ie: Administrator or someone like that? That is a big reason for
what is occuring. Log in as Administrator and then launch Outlook. When you
are prompted, insert your Office CD.

There are also some known rights issues. Search in Googl or Microsoft
Technet and you will find them.

Kathy--I just got through dealing with this very issue. Your registry is
corrupt--meaning that something has altered (probably deleted)
an ODBC registry entry that Outlook needs. MS has "solutions" to this on
their site. Basically, they suggest copying the ODBC registry from a
working machine, similiarly configured with Outlook, to the broken
machine's registry.

I'd suggest a removal and re-install of Outlook from scratch.
