outlook freezing after broadband installation

My Outlook keeps freezing which then prevents the Start button or anything
else working by click on my desktop. It lets me email for a while then
freezes when I click Send/Receive. The only thing I've done different
recently is that 2 days ago I installed Broadband - my broadband provider has
no record of any conflict with the Outlook program - I've now had to
uninstall broadband to see if this is whats causing the problem - has anyone
any ideas or seen something similar happening?

Thanking you in advance for your response.

Do you have your Internet email accounts set to automatically dial your old
ISP when you start Outlook?

Yes, under Internet Email Settings > Connections I have "Connect using my
phoneline" radio button checked and my broadband provider in the drop down
box showing for Modem/Use the following DialUp network connection.

Is there anything else I've to change?
Thanks for your reply.

Set Outlook to use a LAN connection then let your operating system handle
all the messy parts about connecting & such. Are you using a router in your
house along with the broadband connection?

In the same Internet Email Settings>Connections box as I've clicked the
connect using my phoneline? It says "Connect using my LAN" which when the
radio button is checked offers an option of checking "connect via modem when
Outlook is offline" - is this the correct bit? Should I check the last option
too?

Educate me - when you say router what do you mean? I've only installed BT's
broadband Voyager 105 USB ADSL modem and used their CD to install the drivers
- is this correct?

I really appreciate your time.

Yes, but I don't think you need the modem option also checked

A router would be something that you connect to the ADSL modem so you can
connect more than one PC to the broadband connection. It sounds like you've
got everything setup OK, though for your one machine.

Thanks for your time Vince, if you don't hear from me again, its working a
treat - I really appreciate you taking the time to help me.
Kind regards,
Irene
