You would have to transfer to OE first. Only then could you import to
Outlook.

First find your Outlook Express message files which by default will be in a
hidden folder within C:\Documents and settings

Eg:
C:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{6BAE890E-etc-}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

With OE closed copy these files via a CD or via a network to a folder on the
new computer. (the CD will also give you an off-line backup) Put them in a
more easily found folder on the new computer eg C:\OEmail

Open Outlook Express and use menu Tools ..Options..Maintenance..Store Folder
to point Outlook Express to the transferred mailboxes. Close OE

Outlook should then be able to find the OE message base.

If neccessary you may need to Export each email Account from the old OE to a
file and import them to the new OE and maybe get them working before
switching over to Outlook.

.... and, if you use a CD to do the transfer, the data files will be marked
Read Only. They will have to be set back to Read/ Write before either
Outlook or Outlook Express can use them.

Is that still so on Windows XP? I know it used to do that on earlier Windows
and I haven't rechecked recently, but I had the impression MS had fixed that
on XP.
