Outlook Contacts for address book

Jon

I transferred my files from an XP laptop to a Windows 7 laptop using a
transfer cable. All my contacts transferred, but when I click on the "TO" to
acces my address book it is empty. When I right click on the "CONTACTS" and
go to Properties to click the "Use Contacts for Address Book" it is grayed
out and I cannot click on it. How do I reset Outlook on the new computer to
use my contacts for my e-mail addresses?

You failed to state how you did the transfer. I will assume you used Windows
Easy Transfer. If so, read the countless posts here that tell you what you
did wrong.

I did the transfer with Windows Easy Transfer. I have tried the instructions
on every link I could find in the "countless posts" with no success. I copied
some items I needed to e-mail to a jump drive and sent them with my old
computer. Any other ideas on how to get my contacts to show up in my address
book?

Just the ones we post every day. Never use WET. Create a new Outlook profile
from scratch and connect it to your PST file. Then you will be able to
enable the address book service.

So I set up a new profile. I still connot access my contacts through my
e-mail. I need to enter each e-mail address separate, or copy and paste. I
have about 7- hours invested and still cannot get my contacts to show up as
an address book. What is wrong? I am thinking I dhould have just bought a new
hard drive for my old computer.

I got it to work! After I created the new profile, I didn't mark it as the
profile to use. Once I did that it is working. Thanks for the assistance
