Outlook blocking when sending url and websites

Tim

When I am in internet explorer and I send a link via email, it says that
outlook has blocked the unsafe attachment, I have changed the security
settings but it still won't send, and when I get the email, the url is not
there.

Because secure versions of Outlook block shortcut files, I recommend that
you use a little free add-in for Internet Explorer when you want to send
someone a link to a page. You can get MailTo_URL from
http://www.slipstick.com/addins/gallery/index.htm#mailto. It adds an "Email
Page" command to the right-click menu in IE and uses the title of the page
for the subject of the mail message.

Make sure that the registry entry you create to tell IE where to find the
application matches the location where you save the program.

Thanks for your quick reply,

I am not sure I understand the registry reference that you put at the
bottom, I use outlook alot but I don't know much else about computers.

I am not on a network, I use several computers with outlook and this new one
with XP is the only one with thsi issue, is there a way I can change it to
not secure version???

Thanks again

You're missing the point: Outlook itself does not block the transmission of
url files. (Read the warning carefully.) It is the recipients' copies of
Outlook that likely will block a url file, and you cannot control the
behavior of their software. That's why you need to send a plain text URL
instead.

The instructions included with the mailto_url program explain how to set it
up.
