Outlook 2007 unable to open attachments without saving first

Running Office 2007 Professional and Windows XP when double clicking on an
attachment to only option is to save file, once saved to drive it opens with
no problem, all formats, word, PDF, excel.

Is this a work computer? did you edit the registry to unblock blocked file
types? What AV software are you using?
