Outlook 2007: Can't get rid of "Corel Address Book" error message

G

Guest

Since I have installed Office 2007 about a month ago, a few moments after
Outlook starts I get the following error message:
"Borland Database Engine not installed. Can't load Corel Address Book
service provider."
I have uninstalled all the Corel products I had except Word Perfect. Corel
Address Book is not listed under tools/account settings/address books. One of
our IT guys fiddled with it a little. None of this fixed the problem.
Thanks for any help.

Go to Tools | Trust Center | Add-Ins and take a look to see if the Corel
Address Book thing is listed there. If so, get rid of it, then restart
Outlook.

If this was an upgrade installation, you may also need to find and rename
extend.dat when Outlook is closed.

I found and renamed extend.dat to extendold.dat. Whatever does this rewrote
another extend.dat (I assume that's what it was supposed to do). the Borland
error message is still coming up. I have rebooted twice (warm boot).

Any other ideas?
Thanks

You will find many problems when you attempt an upgrade installation. They
cannot all be corrected. Look for other places that might be referencing
Corel, like the default Contacts Manager for your OS.

Thanks. I did search for references to Corel and this is what I found in a
file called MAPISVC.INF
[MAPI]
ServiceOrder=
[Services]
NCAB=Corel Address Book 8
[NCAB]
Providers=NCABSP
PR_DISPLAY_NAME=Corel Address Book 8
PR_SERVICE_DLL_NAME=NCSPI8.DLL
PR_SERVICE_SUPPORT_FILES=NCSPI8.DLL
PR_SERVICE_ENTRY_NAME=ServiceEntry
PR_RESOURCE_FLAGS=SERVICE_SINGLE_COPY|SERVICE_NO_PRIMARY_IDENTITY
[NCABSP]
PR_PROVIDER_DLL_NAME=NCSPI8.DLL
PR_RESOURCE_TYPE=MAPI_AB_PROVIDER
PR_PROVIDER_DISPLAY=Corel Address Book 8
PR_DISPLAY_NAME=Corel Address Book 8
6601001e=C:\Corel\Suite8\Shared\Address\Database\

How much of this can I delete?
Also: the message comes up whether or not Outlook is running. When it came
up, I hit ctrl-alt-delete and found the application Corel Address Book. I
right-clicked it and went to processes. It highlighted searchprotocolhost.exe.
