Outlook 2003 & McAfee 2004 SLOW

Jason

I just bought a new high-end brandname laptop with XP
Pro. In it, I:
- installed Office 2003 Pro,
- installed McAfee Internet Security Center 6.0 2004
(including Firewall, AntiVirus, Privacy Service,
Spamkiller), and
- downloaded and installed all latest MS and McAfee
software updates,
by the books. Hoping to lessen intra-computer response,
I opted out some sub-features in McAfee. The
installations were easy. Without McAfee, Outlook 2003
was fast, reliable. After installing and working with
McAfee, Outlook 2003 is miserably slow in most operations
(send/receive, clicking on emails/files in Inbox, Send,
other folders), and sometimes appears to freeze. I
deinstalled McAfee, and Outlook 2003 was fast again. I
reinstalled McAfee, the same problem occurs. So, I have
a painful Outlook 2003 operational response time issue.
Any clear step by step advice and procedure to FIX this
pain would be graciously appreciated. Thank you.

Have you thought about uninstalling the McAfee components until the major
offender is identified? One at a time, reboot, and then try Outlook again.

I do have the same issue, it takes too much time when sending a simple file of 1,5mb and
(XP proffesional, HP 3GHZ office outlook 2003

I did try
Office outlook with McAfee - same (most of the times it does not send at all, time out - even when set to 3,4,5 minutes
Office outlook with Norton - sam
Office Netscape McAfee - same (but, no problems appear besides too much time to send
Office Netscape Norton - sam

I have a feeling that something is conflicting with XP Prof. when sending mail using office-outlook, before that I did not experience this behaviour. I do not say its MS problem, can be a virus unknown, can be a hack problem, can be everything

I did also a test with my hosting company to see what/when arrives, didn't supply usefull info

QUESTION
Anyone knows a helpfull utility to measure the (real) progress?
A possible test with a third parties to see what the real throughput info can tell

Regards

Le
