Outlook 2003 and Search Folders not updating

Hello Group!

I have got 2 search folders setup which used to work but since moving
between cache exchange mode off/on it has stopped.

I am running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP with Exchange 2003. My two search
folders are setup as follows:

1) My inbox only (no subfolders) where the Recieved field is between
01/08/2008 and 31/08/2008.
2) Search folder is the same as above but for July.

If I change the criteria to Last Week or Yesturday, it returns a number of
emails with no problems. However changing it to display emails between two
dates or "This Month" or "Last Month", I get nothing. Although new emails
from the point I create the search folder do appear.

I think the problem may be in the way I changed my Outlook profile from non
cache exchange to using cache exchange then I switched it off.

Any ideas as to how to get my search folders working again?

I have already tried deleting them then setting up again and using
/cleanfinders. Also tried accessing them via OWA and no luck there either.

Thanks!

You aren't using cache mode? In online mode, search folders use the
Exchange index to populate the folder, not outlook's search engine, so it
sounds like maybe indexing is not working correctly.

Hi Diane

Thanks for replying so quickly.

I have jumped between cache and non-cached as working in a IT support area I
need to verify customer`s reported issues on occasion.

I prefer non-cache mode for the following reasons:

1) Ability to send defered emails
2) Sending emails to new created accounts as they appear straight away in
the GAL (24hour delay with cache mode on).

I have noticed the following:

Set search folder criteria to "Recieved" between 01/08/2008 and 13/08/2008.

This returns the appropriate number of emails. However if I set the date
upto 14/08/2008 - I get nothing. If I use the dates 14/08/2008 - 31/08/2008,
I do get the correct number of emails for those dates.

So it could be index which is the problem. Question is, how do I fix it? Is
it a resinstall of Outlook? Or is it and Exchange issue?

Thanks!

Gareth
