Outlook 2002 XP will not open

When I try to open Outlook this error message appears "Cannot start MS
Outlook. Unable to display selected folder or item. Could not open item."
My ISP supports Outlook Express, so that is my default email, but I need
Outlook for some online applications.

This is a relatively recent problem. One other thing - there is an
indication that Outlook is "disconnected" from my wireless network, although
the network is active and the internet and Outlook Express are working.
Thanks.

Have you checked the settings in your mail profile, particularly the Data
File settinsg?

And what has happened on your PC just before "recently"?

Brian,

Thanks for response. Where is the Mail Profile located? (I have checked
under Tools in Internet Options and Outlook is selected as the email program
there.) I can open Outlook Express, but cannot open Outlook. My ISP
supports Express, so that is my default, but Outlook has always been the
application that opened if I clicked on an email link or an Internet link. I
have probably made a change to some setting at some point, but I do not know
when. Also, I'm not the only user on the computer.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook, but that did not help.

Use the Mail applet in Control Panel.

If Outlook opens when you click a link, then the URL file types are set to
use Outlook.
