Outlook 2002 address book error

B

Bill

I have no address book. When I try to create an entry, I
get the error message "A new entry could not be added.
You must have a personal address book (PAB) to create an
entry. Add a PAB to your profile using the E-mail
Accounts command on the Tools menu." "A new entry could
not be added. The action could not be completed."

Upon going to Tools, E-Mail Accounts, add a new directory
or address book, Additional Address Books, I get the
error "The account you have added is not fully
configured. It might not work properly until
reconfigured correctly."

I've uninstalled/reinstalled Outlook, and all of OfficeXP
and I keep getting the same error. Help!
TIA!

Outlook uses Contacts Folders, not address books.
Add entries there.
If you want to display your Contacts in an address book view, you would use
the Outlook address book for that. Outlook has not used a PAB for many
years. Read the directions for setting up the Outlook Address Book:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287563&Product=ol2002

You seem not to have your profile configured correctly. Ensure that you have
a valid mail transport and are connected to your default Outlook Data file.

Appreciate the help, I'm getting closer to finding the
root problem...

All the information is present for my account to function
propery. I'm able to send/receive pop mail fine.

I followed the instruction on the link below, and was
unable to complete this step

3. On the Outlook Address Book tab, click to select Show
this folder as an e-mail address book, type a descriptive
name, and then click OK.

because the box is grayed out. How do I activate it?

That box is grayed out if you have not added the Outlook Address Book
Service to your profile.
Reread the instructions I posted.
