Outbox do not send messages

Make sure you are not running one of the non-compatible antivirus
programs, McAfee or Norton, since these can cause repeated issues with
Windows Mail. If that does not apply to you, let us know, because
there is some controversy as to what may cause repetition of WM problems.

Microsoft has not seen fit to correct this problem or any other problem
with Windows Mail. The only published MS comment has been a statement
that Windows Live Mail will be a replacement for Windows Mail.

Gary, I've downloaded the program, but when I run it, it won't let me click
on anything in the top box. I need to get rid of that stuck Outbox message.
( I apparently have the clone of Andy's comoputer.)

Even though I have downloaded your program twice, I cannot click on the top
box to clear the Outbox. Windows Mail is closed. Could I have made an error
in the downloading process? I clicked Extract and asked to be shown the
extracted files, but it did not show them.
Thanks for your help.

I love you guys! When I finally read the directions again, I tried the
CTRL-SHIFT-ESC technique, and it worked. THANK YOU!

That sounds like you haven't stopped the Winmail process.
Read the instructions again. (especially the bit in the red box)

Amazing how things work after you read the directions! ;-)
Anyway, all is well that ends well.

Steve,

I have found the information you provided in amongst these emails very
handy. I used the utility and deleted my Outbox email, especially the one
that was stuck. THANKS!

However I find that when I reply to emails now they just go directly to the
Outbox and seem not to be sent right away. I know the Selection in the
Options is set to "send email immediately".

Any ideas?

If you can't delete that stuck message in the outbox,
you should try Steve's new edition of WMUtil:
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/
When you download the file, be sure to choose Save rather than Run.
After it finishes downloading choose Run, then Extract. Then it will
show the extracted folder with two files in it. Run WMUtil.exe, and
click Clear Outbox. It may take a while.

Gary, I tried the ww.oehelp program, every thing went well except when I got to the part "click clear out box" it did not give me the option. It said first I have to close the mail box. My mail box was not up, I had closed all programs and was opening the WMUtil from desk top. Any thoughts ??

The fix worked perfectly and was easy enough for a not so smart computer guy
to get it done.

WELL DONE!!!!!

I followed your instructions for the Utilities download (as a WinZip
executable file); saved it, extracted it, and pressed the WMUtil.exe file; as
it opened, it found a file under C:Users\my user name\AppData\Local\MicroSoft
Windows Mail\Window Mail.MS Message Store.

But in the dialogue boxes labeled Compact DataBase, Repair Data Base, and
Clear OutBox, these boxes are not accessible, are unhighlighted, and hence
can not access them and as a result, I can not clear my outbox and fix my
problem.

So hence, your recommendations here are not working....any other
suggestions, whereby manuall I can go in and clear my outbox and be able to
continue sending e-mails via Outlook Express?

In some cases there will be a problem when you test your account settings or
try to use send/receive. I had a problem setting up my e-mail account with
Sky. This may be due to a compatibility issue with your Internet security
package, McAfee or Norton. I am using norton 2008.

In order to overcome this issue, I had to go into the security settings to
disable the settings within Outlook which scan incoming messages for viruses.
One way is to go into the properties within Outlook... Tools> options>
security> zone settings > internet. Norton still virus checks incoming
messages.

I hope this helps.
